Our adventure this time began with the urgent echoing of these words in Agnes’ head:
“Agnes? I just watched Xershain die. Wallace escaped. Assassins of the Cult found us. I translated the letters. Now hidden behind Qanna Outpost.“
Agnes and Ayla agree to return to the others at Braylor’s Boathouse before collecting the letters hidden behind the Qanna outpost.
Meanwhile Keljor was stopped by an old acquaintance who informed him that the local thieves’ guild was under new leadership and that the old leader “Debra” had not been seen in about a week. This young man seemed to think that the arrival of the royal Ambassador Ambrose Pin might have something to do with it. He suggested that stealing Ambrose’s satchel might lead to answers. Keljor thanked the kid and went on his way up to shop for a new cloak… a very dramatic cloak! Then returned to Braylor’s.
Loris spent an hour or so with Sienna. Sienna bought her a new outfit from one of the nicest shops in town and then treated her to a fancy coffee at the Silver Sea Serpent. Sienna wanted to hear Loris’ story and maybe share her own. Both of them are elves from another realm outside of the “material plane” and both have been stuck here for the time being. Sienna was under the impression that her boyfriend Chaz would return for her… although it has been four or five years now. As soon as Loris returns from this outing she joins her companions who were already forming a plan to collect the letters from the outpost, and once they are all together again they headed out.
-The robbery of Ambrose Pin-
On their way to the Qanna outpost the party happened to spot Ambrose Pin surrounded by four bodyguards and a small crowd of people. It was clearly true that he was well loved by the crowds. Our heroes decided to attempt to rob him right then in the street and devised a plan of attack.
Ambassador Ambrose Pin is a thin tall human with slightly elven features. Reddish brown hair in a neat pony-tail. Tailored suit and pants with knee high dark boots. There are several buttons on his chest. One is for great bravery on the WestWall He has stern features and excellent posture. He has four guards two male and two female, all four are very good looking and clothed in a toga and very bright small chainmail protection beneath. They are very distracting.
As our heroes drew closer to Ambrose and began to mix with the crowd around him preparing to put their plan into motion they slowly began to feel a strange effect… they began to really love Ambrose, something about being near to such a figure made them forget any sort of plan and they found themselves staring at him and just wanting to be able to shake his hand. Kerzha was able to push through the crowd and get a “great hug” from him. Ambrose seemed pleased to meet her and mentioned a bounty that he had placed on boards around the city. Kerzha wandered back to Loris and Agnes who were standing apart from the crowd and back a few feet. Agnes seemed wholly unaffected by Ambrose’s charisma but had noticed it’s effects on her comrades. She attempted to brace their resolve, just as Keljor approached Ambrose. Suddenly Loris created a loud explosion sound as a distraction, and Keljor managed to steal Ambrose’s satchel and disappear into the crowd as Ambrose quickly retreated with his guards.
There was indeed a new bounty posted in town asking “Any Brave adventurer to slay the vampire North of town responsible for the murder of Mr and Mrs Brown on HoneySuckle Farm” The poster claims that they were killed very recently and offers a 2500G reward for proof of the vampire’s demise. Under closer inspection one might notice the Seak’Orian crest is watermarked in the corner of the parchment)
– The Qanna Outpost and Library-
The decoded letters were well hidden in the bushes behind the outpost but your party was able to find them easily enough. Wrapped in leather and tucked into a single larger envelope you found two letters that read as follows:
Your equipment as ordered,
We require proof that the deed is nearly done
is the apparatus built?
and the sacrifice ready?
You must obtain your own blood.
(signed ) Iris
A shipment was lost. You must accelerate your plans! Use the Yuan-Ti if you must. We will send our representative to the Shallow Grave a week from today. Have the portal prepared. This is your last chance.
(signed) Iris
After reading the letters you decide to do some research since you find yourselves surrounded by information.
Ayla finds a few legends dealing with a group of ancient female warriors that fought with the angels against the demons and devils in a time before the world as you know it. These warriors could each transform into something different through the power of a weapon supposedly given to them by the angels. Below are some of Ayla’s notes from her research.
“Axe of Wolven Shifting” Used by Chetha the scout (Dire Wolf)
Is this is the axe my father gave me?
“Obsideon Club of Bear’s Strength” Used by Jumexil the Beast
“Slither-Spear of Venom“ used by Yen-tala
“Dagger of the UnderDark” used by Sthneeda from below (Giant Spider)
“Shortbow of Swift-flight” used by Bekeek (Giant Owl)
staff of ??? used by Halla the Amphibious
There are a few conflicting stories about this one…
Fern found a few good books on vampires and spent an hour gleaning all of the information she could find with a bit of aid from Dartha (The librarian). Below are a few of her notes:
-Vampires are known to either work alone or in a “coven” of usually 6 or more.
-They are physically harmed by sunlight, holy water, and even by standing in “running water”. A wooden stake to the heart is an actual thing!?!
-They actually do require permission to enter a person’s house
-They are technically undead and do not age after transforming into a vampire… also vampires can transform into bats and/or gas.
-Even a single vampire should be treated as a very serious threat and handled by “professionals”.
Meanwhile Keljor and Kerzha found a picture book that they enjoyed.
After studying the group returned to the Silver Sea Serpent and found that room 301-304 were rented out so they took room 401 above it. They spent the day listening to the floor, casing out room 301 and Kerzha did some shopping. Fern and Tubs spent the evening in the company of several other sailors down at the docks playing cards then returned the following morning… to sit in the rain and wait for their friends to bring them breakfast or their share of the loot. Speaking of breakfast, Agnes had made an amazing breakfast early that morning fueled with the holy power of her God.
It is nearly noon and nothing has happened in room 301 yet… what will you do next?
